Kayla Tucker

Kayla Tucker enters her first season with the NM State program, following a trio of seasons as an assistant coach for Southern Nazerene, a Division II Great American Conference contender. 

There, Tucker was a part of three consecutive Regular Season Championships (2023, 2024 and 2025), a GAC Tournament Championship (2023), and three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances (2023, 2024 and 2025).

Tucker spent the 2021-2022 season at Ouachita Baptist University (NCAA DII) as an Assistant Coach and the 2020- 2021 season at Texas Tech as the Graduate Assistant for the Women’s Basketball program.

During her time at the Division II level, Tucker coached multiple All-conference selections, including a two-time conference defensive player of the year, conference player of the year, two Central Region First Team Selections, and a  Division II All-American selection.

Prior to her rise through the coaching ranks, Tucker was a decorated athlete through high school and college in the state of Oklahoma. She was a two-time All-State selection her senior year at Southmoore High School (Moore, Ok), later taking her talents to Alabama State in 2013. Throughout three seasons, Tucker and the Hornets earned a regular season conference title and two conference tournament titles. making two NCAA tournament appearances and a pre-season WNIT bid. It was at Alabama State where she graduated with a a Bachelors of Arts in Communications in 2016.

Tucker earned her Master’s in Education from Texas Tech University in December 2022.
