LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team makes a trip to Statesboro, Ga. On Oct. 14 to take on Sun Belt Conference opponent Georgia Southern at 4 p.m. MT in Allen E. Paulson Stadium.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Georgia Southern enters Saturday's contest with a 0-4 record with the most recent loss coming to Arkansas State, 43-25, at home.
Through the first four games this season, the Eagles have been outscored 158-61 and allowed opponents to gain an average of 414.2 yards of total offense per game. The offense of Georgia Southern has put up 316.3 yards per game with 217.8 coming on the ground and 98.5 through the air. Â
The Eagle offense looks to quarterback Shai Werts who has thrown for 390 yards and three touchdowns with 31 completions on 62 attempts. Werts also leads Georgia Southern in rushing with 289 yards on 96 carries.
On defense, the Eagles have three players with over 20 tackles in Jay Bowdry (23), R.J. Murray (22) and Rashad Byrd (20). In total, the defense has made 26 tackles for loss which includes seven sacks, as well as recording five interceptions and three fumble recoveries.Â
HOMECOMING KINGS
Beginning with the matchup at Appalachian State on Oct. 7 and continuing through the Aggies final three road contests, NM State is slated to serve as each team's homecoming opponent this season. The team's home game against Arkansas State in between the road games is also homecoming for the Aggies.Â

- Bryce Roberts scored his first career TD as an Aggie on a four-yard reception in the first quarter.
- Larry Rose III moved into sixth all-time in in program history for total points scored (204).
- Drew Dan set a career-high in receiving yards (44), receptions (5) and long reception (15).
- Jaden Wright set a career-high with two interceptions.
- Jason Huntley had a career long reception of 61 yards on his touchdown in the fourth quarter.
- Shane Jackson set a career-high in tackles (5).
- Jonathan Boone set a career-high in receiving yards (69).
- Larry Rose III set a career-high in punt return yards (37).
- The last time Tyler Rogers threw five or more interceptions was last season at Troy (Sept. 24, 2016).
AN NM STATE WIN WOULD…
- Be NM State's first over Georgia State in program history.
- Tie head coach Doug Martin's highest win total with the Aggies.
- Be NM State's second victory in the state of Georgia ever. The only win in the Peach State came in 2015 at Georgia State (10/4), 34-31.
