LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State women’s basketball head coach Mark Trakh announced the signing of Tyesha Taylor to a National Letter of Intent, marking his third recruit for the 2014-15 season. Taylor joins Jasmine Cooper and Alisha Washington as part of the fall signing class.

Taylor, a 6-4 junior from Temple High School in Temple, Texas, is a top-10 player in her home state. She suffered a knee injury, keeping her off the court her final nine games of the 2013 season, but still managed to help THS to a 24-8 season record.

“She is very long and can run the floor. She was defensive player of the year going into her sophomore year,” Hughes said. “She has only gotten better as time has continued. She can score inside, block shots, rebound, post up and really makes herself available. She is also a big kid that gets on the floor, which you don’t see a lot. She really hustles and is constantly leaving everything out on the floor. We are going to really look at her for our dribble-drive offense – really rotating, cleaning up, getting those 20 points a game. As far as coming into the WAC, we don’t see anybody being able to match up with her.”

The Aggies are fresh off an 81-64 loss to Loyola Marymount on Saturday afternoon, but look to face Cal Poly on Monday, Nov. 18 in San Louis Obispo.
