LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State equestrian team improved two spots to No. 6 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll, which was announced Friday, Nov. 8.

Georgia is 2-0 on the season and has held the nation’s No. 1 spot the entire season. Auburn remains at No. 2 with a 2-0 overall record. TCU, which defeated Texas A&M 14-6 last Friday, rocketed to the nation’s No. 3 spot.

Baylor, which picked up a 12-8 win against Oklahoma State on Oct. 26, remains at No. 4 nationally. South Carolina, which dropped a 10-9 decision to Texas A&M on Oct. 25, drops to No. 5.

New Mexico State, which earned victories against Delaware State, Fresno State and Sacred Heart last weekend in Dover, Del., improves to No. 6. Kansas State, which has not competed since Oct. 19, is No. 7.

Oklahoma State, which fell to Baylor on the road before defeating South Dakota State at home, fell to eighth nationally. Texas A&M, which defeated South Carolina but lost to TCU, remains at No. 9.

SMU, which defeated South Dakota State last Friday, remains at No. 10.

NCEA rankings will be released twice per month.

The 2014 NCEA Championships take place April 17-19 in Waco, Texas, marking the first year one championship will be contested, rather than separate championships by disciplines.
