LAS CRUCES: NMSU Aggies Are Tough Enough to Wear Pink organizers have announced that cash and in-kind contributions totaling $593,992 has been raised for Cowboys for Cancer Research.

The contribution will be presented at halftime of the 10/19/13 NMSU versus Rice football game.  Accepting the contribution from TETWP co-chairs Pat Sisbarro, Laura Conniff, Magellia Boston and Lynda Garcia will be NMSU President Garrey Carruthers, NMSU Biologist Dr. Jeff Arterburn and the members of the C4CR Committee..

“The question everyone asks is about how much money we raised this year,” said Laura Conniff, “and that’s fair because dollars are how we all keep score.  Yes, the amount presented tonight is a few thousand dollars less than last year but no one is disappointed.  The generosity of Las Cruces has once again proved itself.  We are humbled and so very grateful.”

According to organizers, the 2012 TETWP contribution to C4CR announced at the half time presentation was $603,517.  That number, however, grew to $659,737 by year end because $56,220 in additional donations was added after the football game.

“We never start out with a dollar amount in mind.  From day one, our goals have been raising awareness and raising funds.  One is never been more important than the other,” said Pat Sisbarro.  “If one life is saved because the pink fashion show or the Aggie’s wonderful pink jerseys inspired a woman to get a mammogram, we’ve all done our jobs.”
