CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.—The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for Division I, II & III were announced today with a total of 644 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. The Western Athletic Conference had 17 selections, including three from NM State golfers, sophomores Laura Barron and Paige Darwin and junior Amelie Buhl.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

Buhl was one of only two Aggie golfers that competed in all 10 tournaments during the 2012-13 season.  Buhl finished the season with a scoring average of 81.87 and 26 birdies.  Buhl’s best finish was a tie for 35th at the Folino Invitational (Feb. 17-19).  Her best round of golf on the season was a 3-over 75, which she held twice during the season, once during the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational (Sep. 24-25) and during the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate (Oct. 8-10).

Barron missed just one tournament during the 2012-13 season but was one of five NM State golfers that competed in the WAC Women’s Golf Championship (Apr. 22-24) where she finished in a tie for 25th place. She finished the season with a scoring average of 81.52 and 36 birdies.  Her best round of the season was her last round at the WAC tournament, a 3-over 75. Her second-best finish of the season was a tie for 33rd at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational (Sep. 24-25).

Darwin competed in six of the 10 tournaments that the Aggies competed in.  She finished the season by competing in the final four tournaments of the season, including the WAC Women’s Golf Championship.  She finished in 32nd place in the conference tournament with a total score of 28-over-par.
