TUCSON, ARIZ. (Jan. 26) - The New Mexico State men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season to University of Arizona 4-2 on Saturday afternoon after poor weather delayed the match in Tucson, Ariz. The Aggies now move to 2-1 on the season.

Due to inclement weather, the doubles matches did not take place, as there was rain that washed out the three matches. However, once the storm cleared, the teams took to the court for singles play where the Aggies fell at the No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots.

"Once we got going after the rain, I thought the team played well," head coach Carlos Vargas said. "This was a tough match and we knew that going into today. It was good preparation for what we have coming up the rest of the season."

Louis Ramirez led things off for the Aggies at the top spot. The lone senior claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory against Wildcat Andre Vidaller. Daniel Fernandez picked up the other Aggie point at the third position, 6-0, 6-2. The Wildcats took the point on each of the other four courts in straight sets.

The Aggies now continue on the road as they head to Las Vegas, Nev., to meet UC Riverside, host UNLV and Southern Miss in three days of competition.
