HOUSTON, Texas (Nov. 16)-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team had a very productive day during the second day of the UH Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas, Nov. 16.

The Aggies had 12 swimmers in the event finals of the 14-team, three-day meet. The Aggies improved to 11th place in the team standings with 52 points. Sophomore Jessica Legge led the Crimson and White with an appearance in the championship final of the 100 breaststroke, and she earned an eighth-place finish. NM State had three other swimmers compete in the finals with senior Kirsta Bezenek placing 31st, sophomore Kara Schweitzer taking 39th and freshman Dorottya Lennert following in 40th.

In the 400 individual medley, junior Tricia Kiss led the way in 13th place, and Legge scored in 15th place. Freshman Emily Nightingale collected 21st place, and Schweitzer was 24th. Kiss also paced the Aggies in the 100 back in 23rd place, and senior Terrin Seaver captured a pair of 24th-place showings in the both the 100 back and 100 butterfly.

In addition, freshman Nicole Brennecke had a team-best 35th-place finish in the 200 free. The Aggies ended the second day of competition with a ninth-place finish in the 800-free relay with the team of senior Alex Fenton, Brennecke, Seaver and Legge.

The Aggies conclude the UH Phill Hansel Invitational, Saturday, Nov. 17 in Houston, Texas.
