DENVER, Colo.New Mexico State senior women’s tennis player Anne Fagegaltier has been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, Monday, Jan. 28 by the conference office for the week of Jan. 21-27.

This is Fagegaltier’s (Montreuil, France) first career player of the week honor, although she was named the WAC Player of the Month in September 2006.

Fagegaltier helped the Aggies open up the dual match season by going 2-1 in three weekend matches played in Las Vegas, Nev. She won two of three singles matches and two of three doubles matches with teammate Paulina Zuniga over the weekend.

She defeated Weber State’s Greyce Farias (6-0, 6-3) in her season debut and then paired up with Zuniga to defeat Lindley and Farias (8-3). One day later, Fagegaltier picked up the only team point for the Aggies in a 6-1 loss to No. 43 UNLV by winning a three-set tiebreaker against Nikol Dimitrova (6-4, 4-6, 1-0).

For her career, Fagegaltier now has a team leading 53 career overall singles victories. She is a two-time Academic All-WAC selection and has been named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete list twice as well.

The Aggies are back on the courts Sunday, Feb. 3, when they host in-state rival New Mexico in a Rio Grande Rivalry match. 1.5 points in the Rio Grande Rivalry is on the line and the match begins at 12:00 p.m. at the NMSU Tennis Center where admission is free to the public.
