LAS CRUCES – The NMSU Tennis Center clubhouse that began construction in January 2007 is nearing completion.

The clubhouse completes the new state-of-the-art facility that opened in the beginning of the 2006 spring semester. It features 12 post-tension concrete tennis courts that are the finest hard courts in the world to go along with the best lighting system for any collegiate tennis facility.

The new 3,000 square foot clubhouse features offices, class rooms, team rooms and a player lounge that serves the NMSU tennis teams. It is scheduled for completion by the end of May.

“Our new clubhouse is three times larger than the one we had before,” head coach Don Ball said. “It fits our needs for us to host events and for our everyday needs. It will complete our state-of-the-art tennis center and without a doubt, it will be one of the premier college outdoor tennis facilities, period.”

New Mexico State is slated to host the 2008 Men’s and Women’s WAC Championships.

The new NMSU Tennis Center serves not only the Aggie tennis teams, but also NMSU students, faculty members and the general public.
