ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New
Mexico State had a tough second day at the Lobo Balloon Fiesta Classic, as the
Aggies saw both of its players fall in the semifinals of both singles draws,
Saturday, Oct. 10.
In the semifinals of the top
singles draw, sophomore Matej Stakne fell to New Mexico's Carlo Ho - the No. 2
ranked player in the tournament - 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Scott Keaton lost to
Northern Arizona's Kevin Taylor 7-6, 6-3, in the semifinals of the B singles
draw.
"It was a tough day,"
assistant coach Carlos Vargas said. "We had some close matches, but it was just
a hard day for us."
The Aggies were 10-9 combined
on the day. The team will continue consolation play tomorrow in the last day of
the tournament.
Up next for New Mexico
State's men's tennis team is the ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las
Vegas, Nev., Oct. 21-25.
