LAS CRUCES, N.M.-The Mobile Productions Unit at New Mexico State University has successfully launched AggieVision, an aggressive endeavor to produce and distribute 43 live athletic events during the 2007-08 academic year.
Already, AggieVision has produced and distributed three contests, with two additional telecasts scheduled for the week of Sept. 10, including a volleyball match against UTEP, Tuesday, Sept. 11 and a football game against UTEP, Saturday, Sept. 16.
All 43 live events will be distributed to Comcast Entertainment Television (CET) for telecast in four major New Mexico markets (Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Gallup), while Time Warner cable in El Paso will also carry all events live. AggieVision has also secured deals with two major regional sports networks, as Fox Sports Net Arizona and Altitude Sports & Entertainment will carry selected games live and on a delayed basis. With the distribution to all four entities, AggieVision reaches 12 states and over eight million subscribers, including 175,000 Comcast subscribers in the state of New Mexico, 5.4 million Altitude subscribers, 2.5 million FSN-Arizona subscribers and 120,000 Time Warner El Paso subscribers.
Comcast Entertainment Television (CET) also replays each event at 2:00 PM the day following the live telecast, giving additional opportunities for NMSU fans to watch the games. Available on Channel 4 in the Las Cruces area, Comcast Entertainment Television (CET) provides local programming exclusive to New Mexico and unavailable on satellite television.
“AggieVision presents an enormous opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches and teams to showcase their talents, the university and the Las Cruces community,” NMSU associate athletic director Steve Macy said. “Using the collective talents and skills of various university resources, we have created a mobile productions unit that not only supports live athletic events, but the entire university.”
AggieVision’s live events feature university branding and imaging messages, including inside looks at various university departments, research projects and personnel. The mobile productions unit also handles all production and distribution of coaches’ shows.
