2008 (Freshman): Roberts played in 12 games for NM State as a running back and on special teams in 2008. On the season, Roberts ran the ball 20 times for 42 yards and caught one pass for nine yards. Roberts’ best game came against Boise State (11/1) when he ran for 26 yards on 15 carries and caught a single pass.
High School: Roberts earned four letters in football and was a versatile athlete for the Tigers, playing both quarterback and running back. As a senior in only five games of action, Roberts ran for 535 yards from 63 carries and scored four touchdowns. He earned the Region I Texas HS Athlete of the Week during the second week of the season. Roberts also led the squad to its best record in school history, 8-3 (5-2), along with making the playoffs for the first time since 2000 and only the seventh time since 1962. The Tiger offense finished second overall in the area (FW Star Telegram), averaging 38.3 points and 420.7 yards per game. Roberts was also a sprinter on the track and field team. As a junior, he recorded a time of 10.58 in the 100-meter dash during the finals at the regional track meet.
Personal: Roberts is the son of Deborah and James Curtis Roberts. He is majoring in business administration.
