Robin Morris-Walters enters her first year as head coach of the NM State Equestrian team and her fourth year with the program overall. She oversees all aspects of the team's day-to-day functions and the Western squad, coaching both the reining and the horsemanship.

Morris-Walters guided the Western team to a 2012 National Collegiate Equestrian Championship appearance as the No. 9 seed. The Western team won six competitions on the season and earned 16 MVP honors, including a team high seven from Horsemanship rider Megan Gould.

The 2010-11 Western squad had a successful season, including a national ranking of ninth, which qualified the team for the 2011 Varsity Equestrian National Championships (VENC). Morris-Walters led the western squad to wins against UGA, OSU, Fresno State, Tennessee-Martin, Ohio State, Delaware State, and West Texas A&M during regular season competition. Throughout the season NM State riders garnered eight MVP honors under Morris-Walter's guidance, five in horsemanship and three in reining.

In the 2009-10 season Morris-Walters coached the western squad to a VENC qualification and national rank of seventh. She led the Aggies to wins against Baylor, OSU, TCU, Fresno State, Delaware State, and Tennessee-Martin. In addition, Morris-Walters' western riders were regular recipients of MVP awards in both horsemanship and reining throughout the season. Morris-Walters coached sophomore Rebecca McReynolds to a National Championship individual qualification in the reining; she then advanced to the National Championship Round, a first for NM State, where she was edged out by Texas A&M's Maggie Gratny by a mere half point. McReynolds performance at Nationals garnered her an invite to the prestigious NRHA Collegiate Reining Championship Invitational held at the NRHA Derby, where she secured a sixth place finish under Morris-Walter's instruction.
Before joining the NM State Equestrian coaching staff, Morris-Walters served as coach of Texas Tech's club team while pursuing her master's degree. While at Texas Tech, Morris-Walters coached 18 individual Regional Championship qualifiers, 12 individual Zone Championship qualifiers, five individual National Championship qualifiers, one individual Reserve National Champion and a Reserve Champion at the 2009 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Collegiate Championship.

During her collegiate career, Morris-Walters was a member of the Texas Tech Equestrian Team from 2003-07. She served as the western team captain for three years as well as a student coach, due to the absence of a western coach. Morris-Walters was the 2007 Zone 7, Region 1 High Point Rider, earning the most total points for the season in both Reining and Horsemanship. She also qualified for IHSA Regional Championship five times, was a three-time IHSA Zone Championship Qualifier and a two-time IHSA National Championship qualifier. In 2005, Morris-Walters placed third in the Open Individual Western Horsemanship at the IHSA National Championships in Sunbury, OH.
Before taking the reins of the NM State western squad, Morris-Walters actively competed as an amateur rider in horsemanship, western riding, trail, and reining. As a youth competitor, Morris-Walters was a multiple AQHYA World Championship Show qualifier in horsemanship, showmanship, trail and western riding. During her final youth year with the AQHA, she was a member of the 2004 United States Youth World Cup Team. Morris-Walters travelled to Australia, where Team USA took the championship. She also earned an Individual Reserve World Cup title in showmanship.

Morris-Walters was a founding member of the Texas Tech Ranch Horse Team. She was the third high point overall Non-Pro at the 2007 Stock Horse of Texas Championship and the 2008 Star of Texas Collegiate Stock Horse Championship Reserve Champion in reining, and Champion in ranch pleasure. Morris-Walters served as graduate coach of the 2009 American Stock Horse Association Collegiate National Champion Team.

Also at Texas Tech, Morris-Walters served as a representative and spokesman for the Equine Program. She led specialized horsemanship clinics to 4-H groups throughout Texas and served as a volunteer clinician at different Stock Horse of Texas clinics. Morris-Walters also travelled to Europe and served as a clinician three different summers at various AQHA International Horsemanship Camps.

Morris-Walters graduated from Texas Tech in 2007 with a B.S. in range management, and earned a master's degree in animal science with an equine nutrition emphasis from Texas Tech in 2010. Originally from Colorado City, Texas she has been riding since she was 5 years old.

Morris-Walters married Rylan Walters on July 16, 2011; they reside in Las Cruces, NM.
