WACO, Texas - The New Mexico State Equestrian team fell to Baylor, Friday afternoon, at the Willis Family Equestrian Center, 12-7. The Hunter Seat lost 7-3, while the Western team was barely defeated 5-4. The Aggies move to 6-5 on the season.

"I thought we had a solid competition overall," head coach Audrey Buck said. "The Western team really seated up today and had some good rides, despite the score not going in our favor. On the Hunter Seat side we didn't ride as well we would have hoped in Equitation on the Flat but the over Fences team I thought rode well. We need to ride better tomorrow in Stillwater."

The Western team earned two points in both Horsemanship and Reining. Clarissa Egderton defeated Chelsea Retmeir, 74.5-74, while Megan Gould beat Blair Bergeson, 72.5-69.5, in Horsemanship. In Reining, Chelsea Campbell won her head-to-head competition, 69.5-0, over Barbara Aitkin, as Marissa Bartman handled Claire Edwards, 72-69.5.

The Hunter Seat team managed just three points on the day, as Emily McConnell earned MVP honors with a win over Kara Fergusson, 80-77, in Equitation over Fences. Beth Soloman also won her Fences ride over Taylor Brown, 80-74. Stephanie Gershon was the lone Aggie to earn a point in Equitation on the Flat by defeating Brown, 71-64.

The Aggies will now travel to Stillwater, Okla., for a competition with Oklahoma State on Saturday.
