LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The New Mexico State equestrian team will travel to Athens, Ga., Feb. 26-27, to compete in the Bulldog Invitational against the University of Georgia, South Dakota State and University of Tennessee- Martin. Events on both days begin at 8 a.m. (MT) The Aggies met the Georgia Bulldogs in the fall but fell short with Georgia coming out on top 11-5.

"We are looking forward to competing in Georgia this weekend, and I feel like the ladies have been pushing themselves extremely hard in practice and focusing on areas that we can improve on from last semester," head coach Audrey Van Eman said. "Our Western team just had a huge win at home last weekend against Oklahoma State and that is a huge confidence booster coming into this tournament. This will be our Hunt Seat team's first competition for the spring and I am certain that we will have solid, focused rides from each athlete.  I am very happy to travel Stephanie Gershon for the first time this year and have been consistently impressed with her in practice, as well as Sam Stephens, who is coming back from an ankle injury from late last fall."

Currently the Aggies are 4-1 this season with one win over West Texas A&M, two over Fresno State, and most recently the Western team defeated Oklahoma State.

NM State will travel Breanne Bertrand, Kate Goodwin, Chelsea Campbell, Christina Keyes, Pamela Evans, Megan Gould, Tara Wilson and Kyra Cruse to compete for the Western team, while Brianna Raab, Chelsae Keyes, Amy Lang, Erica Daniels, Emily McConnell, Laura Bostwick, Stephanie Gershon, and Samantha Stephens compete for the Hunter Seat squad.

The Aggies last competition against Oklahoma State was a Western only competition and the Aggies came out on top 6-4. Christina Keyes earned her first career MVP honor when she competed in the Reining competition.

The Hunter Seat Squad last competed against Fresno State when the Aggies defeated the Bulldogs 9-6. The Equitation over Fences won 3-1, while the Equitation on the Flat tied 2-2. Rider Emily McConnell earned MVP honors with a win over Chelsie Stone, 81-78.

Results will be available at www.NMStateSports.com following the competition.
