LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State equestrian team defeated Fresno State Saturday afternoon, 9-6. The Aggies grabbed three MVP honors on the day, as the Hunter Seat team won 5-3 and the Western team won 3-1.

On the Hunter Seat side, the Equitation over Fences won 3-1, while the Equitation on the Flat tied 2-2. In Equitation on the Flat, Jennifer Friend defeated Hillary West, 76-68, while Samantha Stephens beat Marisa Mohn , 70-59. In Equitation over Fences, Emily McConnell earned MVP honors with a win over Chelsie Stone, 81-78. Laura Bostwick defeated Dayle Fischer, 68-0 and Stephanie Gershon beat Holly Elsbernd, 75-72.

On the Western side, the Horsemanship team tied 2-2, while the Reining team won 3-1. Megan Gould led the Horsemanship team with an MVP ride by beating Kelsi Fischer, 75-71.5. Pamela Evans earned the other point for the Aggies by defeating Rio Haack, 73-72.5.

The Reining team was led by Kate Goodwin, who earned MVP honors by beating Sydney Coletti, 69.5-63.5. Kaila De Jane defeated Kelly Holcomb, 71-65.5, while Breanne Bertrand handled Jillian Tebbe, 71-66.

This was the final competition for the Aggies this fall. They will be back in action in mid-February.
