LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The New Mexico State equestrian heads to Fresno, Calif., March 1-2 for a dual meet competition against host Fresno State and South Dakota State. The Aggies and Bulldogs have a long history in equestrian competitions but this will be the first meeting between the two schools this season.

NM State has faced South Dakota State already once this year, back in Nov., in Brookings, S.D. The Aggies lost 10-5 in the first meeting. On the season, NM State holds a 3-6 overall record. This weekend’s competition will be held at the Student Horse Center.

“We feel like we are very prepared for our competitions against Fresno State and South Dakota State,” head coach Robin Morris-Walters said. “We had a team scrimmage this past weekend that offered some great competition between all of our riders and I thought our girls rose to the challenge. As a team, we really need a win to help build up that confidence and as we near Nationals. I feel we match up well and can compete against both Fresno State and South Dakota State.”

Megan Gould, Jessica Woolsey, Brynn Larson, Clarissa Edgerton and Rianna Storey will represent the Aggies in Horsemanship, while the Reining team will consist of Tara Wilson, Stefanie Story, Marissa Bartmann and Brynn Larson. In Reining Jamie Story and Hayley Newkirk will serve as alternates, while Courtney Cruse will be the alternate for the Horsemanship team.

On the Hunter Seat side, Laura Bostwick, Emily McConnell, Amber Tassel and Hannah Swarthout will handle both the Equitation on the Flat and the Equitation on the Fences. Sydney Morse will be the Aggies’ alternate in the Flat, as Shannon Dooley was named alternate for the Fences.

Results will be available at www.NMStateSports.com after each day of competition.
