NM State Equestrian Ends Fall Season

Brookings, S.D. – The New Mexico State equestrian finished up its fall season Sunday afternoon with a 10-5 loss to South Dakota State. The Aggies wrap up the fall at 3-5 overall as a team.


The Hunter Seat team fell 5-3, while the Western team lost 5-2. The Aggies lost five head-to-head match ups on the day by three points or less and tied in one match up.


The Equitation on the Flat team was led by Hannah Swarthout who was named Most Outstanding Player with an 84-79 win over Santana Wright. In Equitation over Fences, Emily McConnell defeated Megan Violand, 78-67, as Shannon Dooley beat Lauren Kerr, 82-63.


In the Western competition, Megan Gould was named Most Outstanding Player with a 74.5-71.5 win over Kelsey Champagne, for the Aggies lone win in Horsemanship. Haley Newkirk would grab the Aggies only point in Reining by defeating Jana Basler, 67.6-65.5.


The Aggies will now focus their attention to fall exams and the season half of their season, which begins on Feb. 2 against Baylor at home.
