“Despite the loss, I am pleased with the team's effort,” head coach Robin Morris said. “Many of our individual losses were by narrow margins to a tough team at home. We will build on this weekend's experience as we head into our last home meet and the championship.”
In the Hunter Seat competition, the Aggies mustarded just one point in Equitation over Fences. Julie Frey beat Jennifer Waxman, 55-50. Despite the 9-1 loss overall in Hunter Seat, six of the 10 head-to-head match ups were decided by six points or less.
The Western team recorded three points overall, two in Horsemanship and one in Reining. Lauren DeVoe defeated Allie Dusha, 74.5-72.5, while Clarissa Edgerton beat Lucy Igoe, 72-67. In the Reining, Brynn Larson was the lone point getter for NM State, defeating Cheyenne Cracraft, 69.5-65.5. Four of the seven wins by Auburn in Western were decided by a one or less.
The Aggies will be back in action for the final regular season competition on March 22 at the NM State Equestrian Center, as the Aggies host West Texas A&M.
