LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The No. 5 ranked New Mexico State Equestrian team will be back in the arena on Saturday, February 15 to face SMU beginning at 9 a.m. at the NM State Equestrian Center. Admission is free.

The Aggies are 7-3 on the season and coming off a tough loss to No. 1 South Carolina two weeks ago.

“Against South Carolina I really think we gained so confidence that we can compete against the best in the country,” head coach Robin Morris-Walters said. “Since that competition the team has been practicing hard and I feel that we are ready to take on SMU. SMU is a good team and we will need to come ready to ride.”

NM State faced SMU to start the 2013-14 season back in September in Waco, Texas. The Aggies lost 10-9 to the Mustangs. The Aggies had two Most Outstanding Players on the day as Hunter Seat rider Emily McConnell defeated Julia Fowler of SMU, 81-64 in Equitation on the Flat, and Western rider Brynn Larson earned her first MOP of the season by defeating SMU’s Courtney Line, 70.5-0.

Saturday’s event will begin with Equitation over Fences along with Horsemanship, followed by Reining and Equitation on the Flat.
