McConnell Set to Ride in the Collegiate Equitation Challenge

Las Cruces, N.M. – The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is schedule to host the Collegiate Equitation Challenge on Feb 7, 2014.  NM State’s Emily McConnell will represent the Aggies at this year’s showcase. McConnell is 3-6 overall in Equitation over Fences this season with two Most Outstanding Player Awards.

The competition will feature 16 NCEA and IHSA riders in a head to head competition over fences in Wellington, Fla. The Winter Equestrian Festival is the world's largest and longest running equestrian competition.  The 12-week event hosts more than 5000 horses from 50 states and 31 countries and is held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. 

Riders participating with compete over fences in a preliminary round, with the winners advancing to the final round on Friday night.  Horses are provided by private individuals for the competition and are randomly drawn.
