Wayne Stickney

Associate Athletic Director, Development

There is much to look forward to as we near the end of the spring semester and the close of the fiscal year for Aggie Athletic Club. Student-athletes will be honored Wednesday, April 13 for superior academic performance at the 21st Annual New Mexico State Athletics El Paso Electric Crimson and White Society Banquet. Student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade point average or higher will be recognized during a program and dinner with esteemed representatives from El Paso Electric, as well as NM State administrators and coaches. We thank Clay Doyle and our corporate partner El Paso Electric for making this event possible through their sponsorship of NM State Athletics.

Over 450 student-athletes and their respective coaches will come together with NM State Athletics administrators on the evening of April 18 when the Student-athlete Advisory Committee will host a pool party at the NM State Natatorium. This event will celebrate strides made toward achieving the vision of becoming one of the premier mid-major athletic departments in the country. The main highlight of the event will be the unveiling of a Community Service and Aggie Spirit Challenge Board.

Supporting student-athletes is a rewarding experience. However, until recently, donations to our programs have been handled through labor-intensive, manual processes that rely on our supporters to complete lengthy forms. Many donors have voiced the need for a simpler method. Soon, through the creation and official launch of the first-ever Aggie Athletic Club website, our Aggie friends and fans will be able to make one-time gifts, recurring donations and pay for membership dues. Online registration and payment for special events or banquets will also be available.

The official launch of the Aggie Athletic Club (AAC) website coincides with the AAC Membership Celebration scheduled for May 5 from 5-7 p.m. Look for more information about the new website and the AAC Membership Celebration in the coming weeks. Please contact Felicia McCracken, Donor Services and Special Events Coordinator, at aac@nmsu.edu or (575) 646-5151 for further details on any of the events noted above or if you would be interested in being one of the first to make an online gift via the new website.

The passion Aggies have for NM State Athletics is evident everywhere I travel. From Las Cruces to Albuquerque, Gallup, Santa Fe, and over to Artesia, the Aggie Spirit thrives. Even on recent trips to Las Vegas, Nev., for the WAC Basketball Tournament, and to Houston, Texas, for the NCAA Final Four, it is always interesting to meet either new or long-time Aggie supporters and hear their exciting stories. The Aggie Athletic Club exists to help anyone interested in pursuing this passion. We welcome all supporters and have many ways for you to get involved. Volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of projects. I encourage you to join our team today and help our Journey to Excellence. Together it is possible to make a positive, life-long impact on the lives of current and future student-athletes.
