LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Feb. 23) - Fundraising and putting on special events for an athletic department is not easy task and here at New Mexico State we have a special organization that puts together fundraising and special events.

The Aggie Athletic Club is a subsidiary organization of the New Mexico State University Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3, and serves a purpose for athletics to do fundraising. And so far has had great success. The AAC's mission statement is, "To raise funds and attract friends in support of the endeavors of the NM State Intercollegiate Athletics Department."

"We are making great improvements on coordinating our events and really getting people to show up," said Felicia McCracken, Donor Services and Special Events Coordinator for the AAC. "It is important to know how many of our donors are going to be available, and we are really tailoring events to be able to be something people can really want to come and enjoy."

The AAC has already had a lot of success this year especially with the football signing celebration and student athlete phone-a-thons.

"Our student athlete phone-a-thons are designed to do two things," said McCracken. "To help reach out to previous donors and alumni from our student-athlete base. We want to get them reconnected to the university and the athletic department. The second goal of the current student-athletes calling people in their social network is to get the moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and former coaches involved in putting in additional funding to make the program really great."
