Las Cruces, N.M.-The New Mexico State women' tennis team will be bringing more to the court next season after a star prospect from the Netherlands recently announced to play for NM State in Fall 2011.
Denise van der Ben from Alphen Aan Den Rijn, Netherlands, win become a freshman for the Aggies starting in August. Van der Ben is currently ranked in the top 60's for singles and the top 30's for doubles in the Netherlands.
"I am very excited Denise chose to come to NM State," said head tennis coach Ivan Fernandez. "She was looking at several other top programs but liked the direction our team is going and decided to become a part of a program that is ready to take off."
Van der Ben is the second recruit that has agreed to join the NM State roster for the upcoming season. Van der Ben will join Mandy Mallen from South Africa as the two incoming freshman for the Aggies in Fall 2011.
"I know these two recruits will have an immediate impact on this team," Fernandez said. "With six returners for next year, I am really looking forward to a bring future for our women's tennis team."
NM State will be facing conference opponent Louisiana Tech in Las Cruces on Saturday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. (MT).
