Las Cruces, N.M.-The women's tennis team of New Mexico State University returns to Las Cruces this week to face rival UTEP on Wednesday, March 30.
The Aggies are returning from a rain-filled California road trip that delayed the match against Cal State-Fullerton from Monday, March 21, to Tuesday, March 22, and cancelled the March 23 match against Cal State-Northridge. The match against Loyola Marymount University on Friday, March 25, was unaffected.
NM State concluded the road trip 1-1, losing 4-3 to Cal State-Fullerton and defeating Loyola Marymount 4-3.
Last season NM State defeated UTEP 6-1, in El Paso, Texas, for one of the most dominating wins against UTEP in El Paso in recent memory. Last season's victory was the third straight victory over UTEP in El Paso.
NM State is 4-1 against UTEP dating back to 2005. The last time NM State defeated UTEP in Las Cruces was April 6, 2005, when the Aggies won 6-1. The last time NM State faced UTEP in Las Cruces was in 2007 when UTEP defeated NM State 4-3.
The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. (MT) at the NM State Tennis Center.
