LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After two matches in Arizona, the New Mexico State women’s tennis team now heads to Las Vegas, Nev., for three dual matches this weekend at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Aggies begin the weekend by matching up against host UNLV on Friday, Feb. 7.  NM State will then play UC Riverside on Saturday, Feb. 8, before meeting Pacific on Sunday, Feb. 9.  All three matches have an 11 a.m. (MT) starting time.

NM State is looking for its first win of the spring season after losing to Arizona and San Francisco in Tucson.  The Aggies did pick up their first two wins in dual matches this spring after freshman Brittany Collens and senior Annemieke Witte both won in three sets over their San Francisco counterparts.

NM State will begin the weekend with one of its toughest matches of the season as the Runnin’ Rebels begin their home schedule ranked 58th in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).  UNLV also has one of the best players in the country in senior Lucia Batta who is ranked as the 29th-best player in the nation by ITA.

Like the Aggies, UNLV has started the spring season with a 0-2 record after losing two matches in Berkeley, Calif.  The Runnin’ Rebels’ losses, however, came at the hands of two of the better teams in the country, No. 43 Washington and No. 66 Santa Clara.

UC Riverside (0-3) and Pacific (0-1) will also be looking for their first dual-match win as both are winless early in the spring schedule.
