LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Nov. 15) - Head women's tennis coach Ivan Fernandez inks Brittany Collens as an addition to the 2013-14 tennis program with a National Letter of Intent on Thursday, Nov. 15.

"I am extremely excited to announce the signing of Brittany to play for NM State starting next fall," Fernandez said. "She brings a lot of experience in singles and doubles. I expect Brittany to have an immediate impact on this team."

Collens is from Manchester, Mass., and trains at the MAC Tennis Academy. She has been ranked as high as fifth in the state of Massachusetts, 12th in New England, and within the top 200 in the country. Collens is the only addition to Fernendez's squad for the upcoming year.

"She is an extremely hard worker on and off the court and has that "never say die" attitude that I am always looking for in my student athletes. I know that she will have a very successful collegiate career here with the Aggies. It is my pleasure to welcome her to the Aggie tennis family," Fernandez said.

The women's tennis team takes to the courts on Feb. 8, against UNLV for the debut of the 2013 spring season. The first home matchup for the Aggies is on March 1, versus Colorado State.
