LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men’s and women’s tennis teams each host Western New Mexico at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at the New Mexico State Tennis Center.
Both NM State teams face the Mustangs who are coming off their first home matches of the season last Friday. WNMU’s men’s team was able to come away with a 6-3 victory over McMurry University, while the women lost the match by a final score of 6-3 to the War Hawks.
The NM State women’s team is coming off a 4-3 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Friday, March 28. The Aggies were able to capture their second road win in less than one week following the victory. The team has a record of 6-11 on the season while sophomore Ashvarya Shrivastava leads the team with a 12-3 singles record including 10 victories in her last 11 matches.
NM State’s men’s team suffered a tough 6-0 loss against 29th-ranked Texas Tech on Saturday, March 30 in Lubbock, Texas. The men are currently sitting with a record of 8-10 on the season and have two conference wins. Junior Patrick Pfister leads the men with an 11-4 record in singles. That record includes a 10-2 performance at the No. 5 spot.
Both matches are held at the NM State Tennis Center and are free to the public.
