ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The New Mexico State men’s tennis team dropped 4-0 in a dual match against former conference foe UT Arlington on Sunday, March 9.
NM State left three matches unfinished in singles play as UTA took three of the wins along with the doubles point to win the dual. Senior Marc Westgate and sophomore Liam Goldberg battled to an 8-6 loss at the No. 1 doubles court, while junior Germain Degardin and sophomore Strahinja Trecakov fell 8-1 at the third court.
With the doubles point going in favor of the Mavs, Degardin and redshirt sophomore Paul Denele fell in straight sets at the second and third singles courts, respectively. Junior Patrick Pfister took his match to three sets at the No. 4 spot, but eventually lost 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
The Aggies move to 7-6 this season and now continue on the road to meet UC Davis on Friday, March 14 in Davis, Calif. The team then travels to Sacramento to face Sac State and Santa Clara on Saturday and Sunday.
