Menís Tennis Tops Abilene Christian 6-1

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The New Mexico State men’s tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Abilene Christian at the NM State Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 22. The Aggies sit on a three-match winning streak with a 7-3 record.

The Aggies earned the doubles point with an 8-2 win by redshirt sophomore Paul Denele and sophomore Naveen Manivannan at court two. Sophomore Strahinja Trecakov and junior Germain Degardin won at the third spot 8-3.

NM State moved into singles play with five wins at the top five courts. Trecakov moved to 3-0 at the top singles spot with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Borja Cortes. Denele went three sets at court No. 2 (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) for his win.

Sophomore Liam Goldberg and Degardin each won their matches at the third and fourth sports, respectively in straight sets. The fifth Aggie win was a 6-2, 6-2 victory by junior Patrick Pfister at the fifth position.

NM State continues at home with a dual match at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23 against Arizona.
