NM State (4-4) is coming off of a tough 7-0 home loss on Wednesday to rival No. 59 New Mexico. The loss snapped a three-match win streak for the Aggies when they previously knocked off No. 54 UNLV.
The match with the Jaguars marks the Crimson and White's fifth match in eight days. USA leads the all-time series 2-0 but the teams have not met since Apr. 5, 2005.
South Alabama (3-1) has won two straight matches over Florida A&M (4-0) and Nicholls State (5-2). The Jags' only loss was 4-0 to Florida State.
Aggie senior captain Stakne is currently ranked No. 15 in the ITA Mountain Regional singles rankings. He is 3-5 this year at No. 1 singles and 5-1 at No. 1 doubles with partner Ramirez.
