LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State University men’s tennis team will conclude its fall schedule with a trip to Las Vegas, Nev., to compete in the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Regional Championships.
The five-day tournament, being played at the Darling Tennis Center, will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and continue through Sunday, Oct. 20.
This will be the first trip out of New Mexico for the Aggies this fall. NM State has participated in two tournaments before the ITA Regional, its home tournament and the Balloon Fiesta Invitational in Albuquerque.
Sophomore Liam Goldberg will head to Las Vegas with an undefeated record and championship wins in both the Aggie and Balloon Fiesta Invites. The Australia native has started his Aggie career with eight-straight singles wins and two flight titles.
Not to be outdone, fellow Australian Thomas Douglas and his doubles partner, Naveen Manivannan, have matched Goldberg by also going undefeated in both tournaments. The sophomore duo is 8-0 in doubles play and also has picked up two flight championships this season.
The ITA Mountain Regional will be the final tournament for NM State before beginning its dual-match schedule in late January.
Daily Aggie results and recaps will be available at NMStateSports.com following each day’s action beginning Wednesday afternoon.
