Men's Tennis Travels for Two Duals This Weekend

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (March 7) - The New Mexico State men's tennis team hits the road for two matches hosted at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 9 and 10. The Aggies face Rio Grande rival No. 74 New Mexico on Saturday and meet DePaul to close out the weekend on Sunday.

The Aggies go into the weekend with a 6-3 overall record and 1-0 in Western Athletic Conference play. Riding a three-match win streak, the Aggies are led by senior standout and reigning WAC Player of the Week, Luis Ramirez. The senior was unbeaten over the weekend at home and swept his matches at the top singles spot in straight sets. His 6-2, 6-2 win over Yauheni Yalauleu helped the Aggies to their first conference win over UT Arlington. 

NM State travels to UNM for the first match of the weekend with the Lobos ranked 74th in the ITA rankings. UNM split its most recent weekend with a loss to No. 69 Miami and a big win over 58th-ranked Texas Tech. The Lobos go into the weekend with a 6-7 record.

The Aggies then play the 3-9 DePaul Blue Devils to conclude the weekend. DePaul is coming off a three-loss weekend. The Blue Devils fell to Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama and Western Michigan with matching 4-1 scores.

The Aggies face in-state rival New Mexico at 12 p.m. on Saturday and DePaul on Sunday at 10 a.m.
