Ramirez Named WAC Player of the Week

DENVER - New Mexico State men's tennis player Luis Ramirez was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 25-March 3, the conference office announced Monday. This is Ramirez' first honor of the season.

Ramirez, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, went undefeated in the Aggies first home weekend. He and partner Marc Westgate helped the Aggies to both doubles points against Northern Arizona and WAC rival UT Arlington in the No. 1 spot. In singles play, Ramirez swept his matches at the top singles spot in straight sets. His 6-2, 6-2 win over Yauheni Yalauleu helped the Aggies to their first conference win over UT Arlington.
