Aggie Women’s Golf Concludes Round Two at Regional

CLE ELUM, Wash. – The New Mexico State women’s golf team finished day two at the 2014 NCAA West Regional on Friday with a total two-round score of 69-over-par 645 (317-328) and in 23rd place at the par-72, 6,252-yard Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort. 

The Aggies shot a round of 40-over 328 during round two of the three-round regional in soggy Washington.

Freshman Kristen Cline remains the top NM State golfer with a total two-round score of 15-over 159 (78-81) after shooting a 9-over 81 on Friday.  She will start the final round on Saturday in a tie for 87th place.

Sophomore Kacey Dalpes and freshman Camille Orito are tied with a group at 100th place with a total score of 17-over 161.  Dalpes shot a 9-over 81 on Friday while Orito carded a 10-over 82.

Rounding out the Aggie squad are the Macias sisters, sophomore Viviana in a tie for 112th at 23-over 167 (80-87) and freshman Valeria at 26-over 170 (86-84) and in 121st place.

First-round leader Southern California and Arizona State will head into the final round tied for the regional lead at 2-over-par 578.  Host school Washington sits in third at 4-over 580.

Rounding out the top-eight teams that have placed themselves in position to qualify for the NCAA Championship are Oklahoma, Northwestern, Michigan State, Texas A&M and Iowa State.

Individually, first-round leader Kyung Kim of USC finds herself tied for the lead with SooBin Kim of Washington at 4-under 140.  Arizona State’s Noemi Jimenez and Marijosse Navarro of Texas A&M are one shot back at 3-under 141.

The West Regional wraps up Saturday with the final 18 holes in Washington.  Golfers are set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. (MDT) while the first NM State golfer will hit the course at 1:55 p.m.
