LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Oct. 22, 2012) - The New Mexico State women's golf team heads into the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown hosted by UNLV in 14th place after posting a 29-over-par 317 during the second round.
The Aggies' second round score gives them a total two-round score of 51-over-par 627 (310-317).
Freshman Kacey Dalpes matched her first round score of 4-over-par 76 during the second round to finish in a tie for 21st with five other golfers at 8-over-par 152 (76-76).
Among the other NM State golfers, junior Mieke Canan has a total score of 12-over-par 156 (76-80) to place her in a tie for 45th, sophomore Laura Barron is in a tie for 57th at 14-over-par 158 (79-79), senior Aileen Meredith sits at 22-over-par 166 (79-87) in a tie for 91st and junior Amelie Buhl finished at 25-over-par 169 (87-82) and in 94th place.
Central Florida, who was 11 shots behind the lead after the first round, will go into the final round as the overall leader. The Knights shot a 5-over-par 293 on Tuesday, the low round for the day. Their combined score of 20-over-par 596 (303-293) puts them two shots ahead of Penn State who finished day two with a total score of 22-over-par 598 (300-298). First-round leader Indiana rounds out the top three at 23-over-par 599 (292-307).
Individually, Penn State's Christina Vosters shot a 1-under-par 71 during the second round to take the lead heading into the final round with a total score of even par 144 (73-71). Ally McDonald of Mississippi State, who was in second place after the first round, remains in second at 1-over-par 145 (71-74) while first-round leader Elizabeth Tong of Indiana fell back to third with a total score of 2-over-par 146 (70-76).
The tournament concludes on Wednesday (Oct. 23) with an 18-hole final round which will have a 7:45 a.m. (MT) shotgun start.
