LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Oct. 9, 2012) - The New Mexico State women's golf team sits in ninth place after two rounds of their home tournament, the Price's "Give Em' Five" Intercollegiate, which is being played at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.

The Aggies shot a 16-over-par 304 on Tuesday, giving them a two-round total score of 603 (299-304).

"Originally I was kind of disappointed with the effort today, but then started thinking on how much we've improved throughout the semester," head coach Jackie Booth said.  "Yesterday's round was the best round of the semester and today's was the third-best round of the semester, we're taking baby steps and getting there and looking to put three good rounds together."

Freshman Kacey Dalpes and junior Amelie Buhl each shot a 3-over-par 75 during the second round, the low round of the day for the Aggie squad.

Dalpes, who was in second place after the first round, will enter the final round in a tie for seventh with a total score of 1-over-par 145 (70-75).  She finished with four birdies on Tuesday, most for any Aggie golfer in a round this season and will start the final round five shots back of the lead.

Among the rest of the Aggie team, sophomore Laura Barron matched her first-round score and has a two-round total of 8-over-par 152 (76-76), which puts her in a tie for 34th.  Buhl (78-75) and senior Aileen Meredith (75-78) are tied for 37th with a 9-over-par 153 while sophomore Paige Darwin sits in a tie for 67th after posting a two-day total of 16-over-par 160 (79-81).

Junior Meike Canan leads the NM State golfers playing as individuals with a two-round total of 11-over-par 155 (77-78) putting her in a tie for 51st.  Senior Marisa Bautista is in a tie for 67th with a total score of 16-over-par 160 (81-79) and senior Cheryl Lo sits in 74th place with a 22-over-par 166 (84-82).

Overall, Kansas, who finished the first round four shots behind the lead, will head into the final round with a three-shot lead over Colorado State.  The Jayhawks and Rams each shot a 1-over-par 289 on Tuesday, the low round for the day.  Kansas heads into the final round with a total score of 7-over-par 583 (294-289), while Colorado State has a total score of 10-over-par 586 (297-289).  Idaho, who led after the first round, sits in third overall with an 11-over-par 587 (290-297).

Individually, Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of Kansas, who led Dalpes by one stroke after the first round, will go into the final round with a two-shot lead over Colorado State's Emily Roering.  Kawinpakorn and Roering were the only two players to shoot under par during the second round and are the only two players to have a total score under par heading into the final round.  Kawinpakorn will start the final round at 4-under-par 140 (69-71), while Roering will start at 2-under-par 142 (71-71).

The final round of the Price's "Give Em' Five" Intercollegiate will be played on Wednesday (Oct. 10) with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (MT).  For a recap and final team and individual results of the tournament log on to NMStateSports.com or follow the action live with live scoring at GolfStat.com.
