Aggies Conclude BYU at Entrada Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah (March 20, 2012) - The Aggies wrapped up the 2012 BYU at Entrada Classic in 12th with a three-round score of 982 (322-328-332). The 12-team, two-day tournament was hosted by Brigham Young University and played at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, a par 72, 6,109 yard course.

After a delay because of frost on the course, play continued and future Western Athletic Conference member Texas State won the tournament with an 892, which was eight strokes better than second-place Oklahoma State and third place Nebraska.  OSU's Kelsey Vines won the individual medal with an even par 216.  She was the only player (out of 68) to finish the tournament at or under par. Illinois Hailey Koschmann and Texas State's Krista Puisite finished tied for second three strokes behind Vines, while two other Texas State players finished in fourth and fifth.

Sophomore Demi Mak, who won the Entrada Classic in 2011, was NM State's top finisher this year tying for 21st with a 234 (81-79-74). Senior Ashley Elias tied for 49th with a three-round score of 249 (78-83-88) and sophomore Mieke Canan was two strokes behind her with a 251 (81-89-81) to tie for 52nd.

Junior Aileen Meredith tied for 54 just one stroke behind Canan with a 252 (86-77-89), while freshman and El Paso native, Laura Barron finished in 68th with a 273 (82-97-94).
