ST. GEORGE, Utah (March 19, 2012) - The New Mexico State women's golf team is sitting in 10th place out of 12 teams competing in the BYU at Entrada Classic, which is being held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon course.
Future WAC member Texas State leads all teams after carding a 300 in round one, while CSU-Fullerton and BYU are tied for second, just two strokes behind. The Aggies carded a 322 in round one and are ahead of Northern Arizona and Weber State.
CSU-Fullerton's Taylor Fowler leads all players on the individual leaderboard and was the only player to score under par in round one as she finished the day with a 1-under-par 71. Illinois' Hailey Koschmann and Oklahoma State's Kelsey Vines are tied for second with an even par on the day.
Senior Ashley Elias leads NM State with a 6-over-par 78 and is tied for 21st. Defending BYU at Entrada Classic champion, Demi Mak is tied for 40th with fellow Aggie Mieke Canan after marking an 81. Laura Barron carded an 82 on day one and is tied for 49th and junior Aileen Meredith is tied for 60th with and 86.
The Aggies continue with round two of the tournament today and finish up on Tuesday morning.
