TARZANA, Calif. (MARCH 5, 2012) - The New Mexico State women's golf team sits in 13th place of the 15-team field at the 2012 Bruin-Wave Invitational that is being played on the par 72, 6,131 yard El Caballero Country Club Course.
Co-host Pepperdine leads all teams after two rounds of play with a two-round total of 588. Oklahoma State is in second place trailing the Wave by nine strokes while co-host and nationally ranked UCLA is in third with a 603.
The Aggies carded a 322 in round one and a 328 in round two for a 650 and is ahead of CSU-Northridge and Sonoma State.
San Diego State's Christine Wong heads into the final round sitting in first place with a 3-under-par 141 and Pepperdine's Alina Ching is two strokes behind in second place. NM State sophomore Mieke Canan was the Aggies' top finisher after two rounds as she tallied a team-high four birdies on the first day of play to finish tied for 19th with a 154 (74-80). Sophomore Demi Mak marked a team-high 25 pars in two rounds of play to head into the final round with a 155 (76-79) while she is tied for 25th.
Senior Ashely Elias is tied for 65th with a 168 (87-81) and freshman Laura Barron is tied for 74th with a 174 (85-89). Sophomore Amelie Buhl is in 79th with a 183 (95-88) while Lindsay Reeve is playing as an individual an is in 80th with a 185 (95-90).
