2011 Women's Golf WAC Championship Starts Friday in Mesa, Ariz.

MESA, Ariz. (April 13) - The NM State women's golf team travels to Mesa, Ariz. to play in the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championship at Long Bow Golf Club April 15-17.

Last year the Aggies finished in fifth place with a three round total of 931 on the par-72, 6,146 yard Long Bow Golf Club Course. Traveling to the championship tournament are seniors Apinporn (Mint) Swaschuto, Suteera (Pang) Chanachai, Buz Bowerman-Ritche, along with junior Ashley Elias, and freshman Demi Mak.

Chanachai has the lowest average per round at 74.60 strokes per round in 25 rounds played and was featured as WAC Player of the Week once this year (April 12). She has finished three rounds in the 60's and come in at par or better in six rounds. Mak also recently received a WAC Player of the Week honor (March 29) and has finished par or better in seven rounds throughout the season. Mak is averaging 75.57 strokes per round in 28 rounds and came in first place at the BYU at Entrada Classic becoming the first Aggie freshman to win a tournament since 2004. She is

Swaschuto is averaging 76.80 strokes per round in 25 rounds played, Bowerman-Ritche is averaging 77.39 strokes per round in 28 rounds and Ashley Elias is averaging 79.26 strokes per round in 19 rounds. Bowerman-Ritchie has come in at par or better in four rounds this season.
