Mak Sits in First Place After Two Rounds of Play in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah  - Freshman Demi Mak leads the way for NM State sitting atop the leader board with a two-round score of 4-over-par 148 (74-74), while the team sits in a tie for seventh out of 15 teams at the BYU at Entrada Classic, Monday, March 21.

The Aggies fought through cold, wintery conditions on the par-72, 6,073 yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Course and are tied with Nebraska posting a two-round score of 629 (314-315). Mak leads all players after carding four birdies and 25 pars.  Wisconsin leads all teams with a 615 (313-302).

"These conditions are tough for anyone to play in but our team is handling it pretty well," head coach Paul Brilliant said.  "We are doing pretty well for playing with just four players this week.  I am proud of the way our team handled themselves through 12 hours of golf."

Junior Ashley Elias sat out for the first two rounds of the tournament as she came down with the flu and is hoping to get out on the course, Tuesday for the final round of play.  Senior Suteera (Pang) Chanachai is tied for 29th with two consecutive rounds of 79, and fellow senior Buz Bowerman-Ritchie is tied for 36th after improving from round one to round two by four strokes.

Senior Apinporn (Mint) Swaschuto rounds out the Aggie lineup with a 163 (80-83) to tie for 50th heading into the final round of play, Tuesday morning.  Live scoring is available for the final round of play at www.GolfStat.com.
