BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The New Mexico State women's golf team finished round one of the UNLV Spring Invitational with a 306 on the par 72, 6,244 yard Boulder Creek Golf Club Course to finish 13th out of 15 teams, March 7.
Brigham Young University leads the field with a 280, while Oklahoma is in second with a 282. Oklahoma ranks 24th nationally while third place team Pepperdine ranks 25th according to Golf Stat.
Senior Buz Bowerman-Ritchie leads the Aggies with a 2-over-par 74 carding one birdie and 14 pars in round one. Freshman Demi Mak is one stroke behind Bowerman-Ritchie with a 3-over 75. Bowerman-Ritchie is tied for 27th and Mak is tied for 32nd.
BYU's Kelsey Vines leads all players with a 6-under 66 and Oklahoma's Ellen Mueller is in second place after day one with a 5-under-par 67.
"We have a young team this week but this will be a great learning experience for them," head coach Paul Brilliant said.
Junior Ashley Elias is tied for 54th with a 6-over-par 78, while freshmen Estefania Burtica and Mieke Canan round out the Aggie line up tied for 60th and 68th respectively. Burtica came in with a score of 7-over-par 79 and Canan carded a 9-over 81.
