BOULDER CITY, Nev. (March 5) - The New Mexico State women's golf team heads to Boulder City, Nevada to play in the UNLV Spring Invitational March 7-9. The tournament is set to be played on the par 72, 6,271 yard Boulder Creek Golf Club Course with one round scheduled each day.
The Aggies will be taking on Ball State, Baylor, BYU, Colorado State, Idaho, Nebraska, North Texas, Pepperdine, Oregon State, Oklahoma, South Dakota State, Tulsa, Wyoming and UNLV. Of these teams, Oklahoma ranks the highest at No. 20 in the nation, while Pepperdine comes into the week at No. 24. Host team UNLV is ranked 42nd and has won the last two UNLV Spring Invitationals.
"We don't mind taking on challenges and this week, just like last week, will be another challenge," head coach Paul Brilliant said. "We will be playing with three freshmen, a junior and a senior this week, which could give us a preview of what is to come in the future."
Playing for the Aggies in Nevada this week will be freshmen Demi Mak, Mieke Canan and Esefania Buritico. Leading the freshmen will be veterans Ashley Elias and Buz Bowerman-Ritchie.
Mak has the best scoring average of the players participating in this tournament at 76.44, while Bowerman-Ritchie isn't far behind with 77.44 strokes per round.
