LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Mar. 15) - The New Mexico State University women's golf team heads to St. George, Utah, this upcoming week to participate in the 2013 BYU at Entrada Classic hosted by Brigham Young University beginning Monday, Mar. 18.

The three-round, two-day tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,015-yards Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.  The first two 18-hole rounds will be played on Monday with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.  Both days will begin with an 8:30 a.m. (MDT) shotgun start.

Joining the NM State team as part of the 15-team field will be: host BYU, Cal-State Fullerton, North Texas, Southern Utah, Weber State, Utah Valley, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Oral Roberts, Boise State, Dixie State, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In 2011, former Aggie golfer Demi Mak took home the individual title at the BYU at Entrada Classic.  Mak finished with a final score of 2-over-par 218.  It is the last time a women golfer from NM State has won a tournament.

Hoping to duplicate Mak's feat of 2011 will be the five golfers representing the Aggies during this year's tournament-freshmen Kacey Dalpes and Viviana Macias, sophomore Paige Darwin, junior Amelie Buhl and senior Aileen Meredith.

Dalpes, who continues to lead NM State in most major statistical categories, and Buhl have both competed in all of the Aggies' tournaments this season.  This will be their eighth tournament of the schedule.

Meredith, meanwhile, has only missed one tournament and will be participating in her seventh tournament.  This will be Darwin's fourth tournament of the season and Macias' third consecutive tournament appearance since joining the Aggie team for the spring schedule.

NM State is coming off a 15th place finish at the Bruin-Wave Invitational in California.  Dalpes, Macias and Buhl were the top-three finishers for the Aggies during the tournament.

BYU has hosted a spring tournament since 1987.  The tournament has held its current name, the BYU at Entrada Classic, since 2010.  NM State has been part of the tournament six of the last seven years, only missing the tournament in 2007.  The Aggies have finished sixth a couple of times during that run, in 2006 and 2008 when the tournament was known as the BYU-Dixie Classic.

The Aggies' best finish at a BYU-hosted tournament, however, came in 1994 during current head coach Jackie Booth's first stint as NM State head coach.  That year Booth led a team that finished third out of 19 teams in what was then called the Brigham Young Invitational.

Last year's Entrada Classic saw NM State finish in 12th place.  Mak led the Aggies by finishing in a tie for 21st place.  The only current Aggie golfer who also participated in last year's tournament is Buhl who finished the 2012 edition of the Entrada Classic in a tie for 54th place.
