NM State Menís Golf 12th at NIT

Tucson, Ariz. – The No. 47 ranked New Mexico State men’s golf team is 12th overall after two rounds of play at the National Invitational Tournament, played on the OMNI Tucson National Golf Course. The Aggies are 15-over par, 591 (301-290) following round two, carding a 2-over par, 290 as a team on Saturday. It was an 11 stroke improvement from round one.

With no NM State golfer at even or under par in round one, the Aggies had three with a score of even par, 72 or better in the second round.

Junior Pat Beyhan led NM State with a 1-under par, 71. He is currently tied for 30th overall with a two-round score of 1-over par, 145 (74-71). Senior Willy Hogan and junior Brett Walker each carded rounds of even par, 72 in the second round. Both golfers are tied for 44th overall with a two round score of 3-over par, 147 (75-72).

Freshman Luis Medina and sophomore Kenneth Fadke II are both 8-over par, 152 (77-75) after two rounds. Medina and Fadke II shot 3-over par, 75 in the second round, placing them in a tie for 67th overall.

Junior Joey Martinez, who is playing in the NIT as an individual, shot a 7-over par, 79 in round two and is tied for 75th overall with a two round score of 12-over par, 156.

California leads the tournament at 27-under par, followed by SMU (-11), New Mexico (-9), San Diego State (-8) and Oklahoma State (-6). California’s Michael Weaver leads the tournament as an individual at 7-under par.

The Aggies will be back in action on Sunday morning for the final round of play, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
