Brett Walker 3-Under Par at Bayou City Collegiate

HOUSTON, Texas – Junior Brett Walker led the NM State men’s golf with a 3-under par, 69, during the opening round of the Bayou City Collegiate Championship. Walker carded four birdies and just one bogey in round one, as his 3-under par currently ties him for third overall.

As a team, the Aggies are 12th overall after a round one score of 6-over par, 294, at the 6,967-yard, par-72 Golf Club of Houston. Despite a high team score the Aggies are just six shots out of the top-5.

Junior Pat Beyhan was 2-over par, 74 in round one, tying him for 44th overall. He recorded two birdies on the day. Senior Willy Hogan shot 3-over par, 75, carding four birdies, tying him for 56th overall.

Kenneth Fadke II is 4-over par, 76 after round one, placing him tied for 71st, collecting one birdie in his round. Travis Benson rounded out the Aggie competitors with a first round score of 8-over par, 80. He is tied for 81st overall.

Tournament host Houston leads the way at 8-under par, followed by Texas (-3), Arkansas (-1), South Carolina (E), Rice (E) and Baylor (E).  Wesley McClain of Houston and Caleb Sturgeon of South Carolina lead the tournament at 4-under par.
