NM State Menís Golf set for the Bayou City Collegiate Championship

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The NM State men’s golf team will travel to Houston, Texas, February 21-23 for the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, hosted by Houston and Rice. The tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,982 Yards Golf Club of Houston. Tee times for the event start at 8 a.m. (MT) Friday and Saturday, with a shot gun start on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. (MT).

Pat Beyhan, Kenneth Fadke II, Brett Walker, Travis Benson and Willy Hogan will represent the Aggies on the weekend.

“We are looking forward to going to Houston and playing on the course that they play the Shell Houston,” head coach Mike Dirks said. “It’s a golf course that will make us think and I see us getting better in the area. Course management will be a huge part of this tournament. We are looking forward to competing against some top teams this weekend and playing a golf course that will test us.”

NM State will compete with some of the best teams in the country including Houston, Rice, Arkansas, Baylor, Charlotte, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Texas, South Florida and UTSA.

Last year at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, the Aggies finished tied for 13th overall with a three-day score of 32-over par. Justin Shin led the Aggies in the tournament, tying for 18th overall with a three-round score of 1-over par, 217. He shot a final round score of 5-over par, 77. Kenneth Fadke was 10-over par, 226 for the tournament, with a final round score of 2-over par, 74. His 74 was the low round of the day for NM State, as Fadke finished tied for 56th.
