Tucson, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men’s golf team is currently tied for 11th at 29-over par. The Aggies and the rest of the field completed round one but were forced to stop play because of darkness in round two with 2-4 holes left for each player.

“We need to become more consistent driving the golf ball, as a team we have the length but need to play from the fairway more often,” head coach Mike Dirks said. “Today we did not get the play we needed from our top two players, Justin Shin and Brett Walker, they have been playing very well at home, but it needs to translate to quality scores on the road.”

In round one, the Aggies were lead by Kenneth Fadke and Willy Hogan,w ho each posted a score of 3-over par, 74. Fadke and Hogan each carded two birdies in the first round.

Derek Baade was 5-over par, 76 in round one with two birdies, while Justin Shin and Brett Walker were both 7-over par, 78 in round one.

The Aggies will be back in action for the final round of the Arizona Intercollegiate, Tuesday morning. Log onto www.golfstat.com for live scoring.
